Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; Edwards County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email correspondence is retained as needed to prepare and send a response. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies, which are small files placed on a device, help measure patterns such as popular pages and where visits end. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. A browser can reject cookies, although blocking them may change how some functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Edwards County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of local dockets or personal case files. It supplies general directions to the Edwards County District Clerk, County Clerk, courts, and re:SearchTX. Visitor data is not used to build consumer reports or profiles of case participants, and the website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review its terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to clerks, trial-court portals, statewide search systems, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted advertising. That processing occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may nevertheless be disclosed to the following limited recipients:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, however, and the possibility of unauthorized access cannot be eliminated.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be submitted.
Your Data Rights
Texas privacy and consumer-protection rules, including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act in Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541 where applicable, may provide additional rights concerning personal data. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
